Winter 2024

Winter months tend to be our busiest time of the year with birthdays and holidays.  None of the kids are participating in winter sports again this year, so our winter season has become a little less chaotic.  I tend to look back to a couple of years ago when all of the kids played winter sports, and I really don't remember how we did it!  I guess that's part of it -- you learn to adjust and live in the moment.  Every moment is so special.  Man, we have so much to be grateful for!

Brock came home for break with a special Christmas present for Mom:

Apparently, this is a term of endearment now.

Holiday baking season is upon us!  I have been dabbling in bread making without my bread machine -- trying to master the art of sourdough bread.  I will keep you posted!

I am so happy that the Christmas calendar in the background is at a normal state, rather than it being in a phallac state (the girls think it soooooooo hilarious to change it).  Me...not so much.

Mom and Dad - Minnesota

Sophie - Old Red

Ella - Old Red
Old Red came in clutch this year.  We have been having a heck of a time with school cars lately, and we keep depending on Old Red.  Ella's car turned out to be very unreliable where she was expecting it to die at any point.  She got so accustomed to it dying that she knew what to do and how long to wait until it started working again.  We got rid of that car and the girls were sharing Old Red.  Ella was suprised that she didn't get a "car on fire" ornament this year.  That would have been more appropriate!

Sophie's 15th Birthday!

Scavenger Hunt from Grammie and Papa
The scavenger hunt took here all over the house and yard.  There was a clue that made her go through all of the shoes.  It was at that point, she understood that we have waaaaay too many shoes.  Haha!

"Why are there so many shoes?!?!"

Yes, the clue is somewhere in that messy car.  Love the shoes, by the way! 😆

She wanted to have some friends over for snacks and to paint candles.

Ella's 17th Birthday!

Ella kept it low-key for her birthday this year.  We went out to eat for brunch as a family, and then she hung out with her boyfriend for the remainder of the day.

Christmas Eve at Grandma and Grandpa's

Dad and Brock were twinning!  Brock loves to dress like Dad.

Nothing says love like a saran wrap ball!

Game time!

Santa's coming tonight, tonight!  Santa's coming tonight!
Santa and the reindeer enjoyed their treats, indeed.

Brock's first deer of the season.  Nice doe!

He then shot a really nice buck!

Cats -- they are always watching.  No matter what you do, they are watching.  No matter where you go, they are watching.  Always watching.

Boiling Heads

Time to give Sophie a haircut!

I approached them in the midst of their uncontrollable laughter.  I loved witnessing this unique time of sibling bonding.
Me: "I have to get a picture of this!  Girls - smile!"

Girls: "Mom, no."

20-Year Anniversary
Chad broke out the camo for this one!

For our anniversary, we went to the Kimpton Cottonwood Hotel in Omaha and had a wonderful meal at the Committee Chophouse.  We had the best time!  Cheers to 20 years (and forever more)!
