When Life Gives You Lemons...

Let's just touch briefly on the changes in the habits of the teenage people before we delve into our household happenings.  As you will see below, there are minimal pictures of the teenage/preteen children. Their recent transformation from school-year behavior to summer behavior has been interesting. It seems as though they will go to great lengths to avoid parental contact when necessary.  When searching for these "teenagers" at home, you will generally find them in dark places, seeking shelter from all things living.

A little bit of fear...

A little bit of fun.

Brock's Arm
A few baseball games into the season, Brock was pitching and heard a pop in his elbow. This was followed by immediate pain, but he continued to pitch -- not expressing to Dad the pain he was in.  He continued to play that game, as well as games to follow for fear of letting his team down.  We took him to see the athletic trainer who gave him some strengthening exercises to do while he rested it.  A few weeks went by with little progress, so we took him to the doctor.  A doctor's visit is only normal when people are watching, but as soon as we are left to our own devices, things tend to take a backwards slide. As I tell the kids often, it's not our normal unless it gets a little awkward:
An x-ray showed that he had fractured his elbow, which takes 4-6 weeks to heal, so he was devastated to hear that he was out of baseball, summer weights, and basketball team camp.  As with all adversity that we are faced with, I reassured him that everything happens for a reason.  It's hard to believe it now, but there is a reason this happened.  So much so, that I had to get this:
I'm sure he will be just as amused about this as I am.  Fractured elbow = MLB Allstar 😂

Baseball Tournament Fun

Make it Monday -- Tie Dye, T-Shirts, and Slime

This is Ella's shirt but when asked to model it, she told me no.

Take a Trip Tuesday - Bubble Tea and the Oriental Market

It's not summer until you have a Pickle Eddie

Elwood with the Boys

Dad's Record Walleye (25")

When Dad's gone, it's Banana Split Waffles and devices at the supper table. 😉

And typically when Dad's away, Mom will play.  I didn't demo anything this time, however I did get a good start on my summer projects which led to a bit of a chaotic mess upstairs preventing access to multiple bedrooms, but it's fine.  I spent my money on it.

A Night of Pampering
(hydrating face masks, snacks, and movies)

It was sort of terrifying popping into Ella's room to see this.

Taco Tuesday and margaritas with Mama!
