St. Patrick's Day 2015

At the beginning of the school year, I told my class how I always make my own kids green food for breakfast on St. Patty's Day.  I had a couple of them remember what I had said, and yesterday they asked me if I was bringing green food in the morning for breakfast.  At that point, I knew that I couldn't NOT bring anything, so I started thinking of possibilities.  What can I make in bulk?  What will take me less than 30 minutes to make?  What can I transport easily?  What can I dye green?  Maybe I could buy something at the store that was green, but then that would completely defeat the purpose of the tradition.  So many decisions; so little time!  Ahhhh!

So after a peaceful night's rest, dreaming about a plethora of green things, I woke up having no clue on what I was going to do.  It's wasn't until I was making coffee and packing lunches that I glanced over at the fridge, and there, in a halo of golden light, was our homemade doughnut recipe for the doughnut maker.  I rapidly scrolled through the list of ingredients, mentally checking off the ones I had.  It turns out I had them all, and I even had the ingredients for the frosting, as well as the food coloring and sprinkles (it definitely pays off to be a baker in instances like this!!!).

So Multitasking Mom took to doing a hundred things at once and managed to whip up the green doughnuts and frosting for my kids and my other 24 children, find a traveling container for the doughnuts (thank you, Press n' Seal!), pack lunches, make coffee, exercise, get dressed and ready, get three kids dressed and ready, start the laundry, make my bed, unload dishes, wash dishes, and tidy up the house before leaving off to school at 7:15.

As I sit here, my eyes are SO heavy, and it's only 8:00.

It's definitely been a day.  Goodnight.  :)
