End to a Great Season

The baseball season is coming to a close, and the Crete Diamonds came out of their season 14-3 (I do believe).  Not too shabby if you ask me!  :)  The boys practiced hard and played hard, and all of their dedication payed off for a very impressive record.  It was such a fun season in that we had the chance to get to know a really great group of boys as well as meet some amazing new friends.  Way to go, Diamonds!

Although the Diamonds are done with their season, it seems as though we just can't get enough baseball.  We have enjoyed seeing our nephews play ball as well as getting cozy on the couch watching some good old baseball movie classics.  Summer is all about baseball, right?

Fishing Frenzy

I took the kids out to fish at Olive Creek.  We were equipped with poles, nightcrawlers, stink bait, a tackle box, drinks, a stringer, net, and camera.  What I did forget at home was my sanity.  It was loooooong gone by the time we ended our fishing adventure.

"Mama, I GOT A SNAG!"
"Mama, my line is tangled!"  -- Typically all three kids had tangled lines at the same time.
"Mama, I HAVE TO GO POTTY!" -- Because I can't leave the other kids at the dock to take one to potty.
"I WANT TO CARRY THE FISH!"
"I need a worm!"
"I can't put on my worm!"
"EW!  THAT'S DISGUSTING!"
"I NEED MY SUNGLASSES!"
"MOSQUITOES ARE ATTACKING ME!"
"I WANT TO FISH WHERE BROCK IS FISHING!"
"SOPHIE CROSSED MY LINE!"
"ELLA CROSSED MY LINE!"
"HOW IN THE WORLD DO YOU HOLD THIS FISH!!" -- That one was me.
"IT'S GOING TO STAB ME!" --  That was me again.

Granted, with all of the craziness that we carry with us, there were moments that made me proud.  Brock did an excellent job baiting the girls' hooks and helping them with their lines.  Although we got many bites, Brock was the only one to get the fish out of the water.  I was also able to turn the girls' fear of baiting their hooks into something that they can do with a little help.  The kids also did a great job of listening, following directions, and making safe choices.

(in which she still refuses to get rid of)

While getting bait at Walmart, Brock bought the girls and me a necklace and earrings with his hard-earned money.  Such a sweet thing to do!

We could not figure out for the life of us how to hold the catfish/bullhead/whatevertheheckthethingis.  So we used the tools we had to successfully unhook the thingymabobber.

The Many Faces of Mama
Chad and the kids see all of these faces on a daily basis.  Out of all of my silly and stressed moments, I would like to think that they see me laughing more than any of these.

This pic was taken at 10:00 a.m. on day two of garden/mulch work.
The kids asked if my shirt had water all over it.  Nope, not water.

Chad is a very patient man...
I wish I could have gotten a higher view, but it definitely looks like crop circles on our lawn.  When Chad got home, all he said was that the lawn looked nice.  :)  Such a sweetheart.

Baby Bird

Nothing says summer like homemade ice cream!

Operation Baby Bird Rescue
We found this little guy after coming home to Harper pummeling it into the ground with her usual pounce-and-woof.  The kids came to the rescue to help save the life of the baby bird.

It needs a home.

And some food.

We left Baby Bird to rest, and when the kids checked on him at supper time, he had made his way back home.
