First Vacation of 2014

For our first vacation of 2014, we used it as a "working vacation."  There is a lot to do around the house in preparation for spring, so we might as well get a head start at it.  Our vacation began by having our carpet installed in the upstairs bedrooms, which was a VERY exciting thing for us!  After being in the house a year and a half, we are finally starting to see the finalization of our hard work (click HERE for a refresher)!  Preceding the carpet install, Chad and I had to bust buttons getting the rooms ready for carpet (closets done, rooms painted, existing doors and jams primed and painted, and casing and base installed, caulked, and painted).

For the first two nights, the kids slept on the floor in their "forts" (aka blankets surrounding their many pillows with a stack of books near by).

Once the carpet was installed, we moved our focus outside for some much-needed chainsaw action.  Turns out that where we want to plant our orchard is right behind a treeline of juniper trees.

One trailer load of many that was taken to the brush pile.  This particular load was some old fencing that needed to go.

It was nice to be able to do the labor-intensive things while the kids were at school, so when it was time to go and get them at the end of the day, we definitely welcomed the break.

Trying to make it up the big hill:

 Taking Her Temperature
After realizing that her temp was normal, she felt fine and played for the rest of the day.

Trying to dig up a bucket:

This was one of the most gratifying moments.  Chad and I were sitting on the porch enjoying beverages and each other's company watching our lovies enjoy the outdoors.  We look one way to find the girls riding bikes together, and Ella teaching Soph how to use her brakes.

We look the other way to find Brock with his bb gun shooting tweety birds.

And Harper in front of us with her bone.  *so grateful*

Ready for the fruit trees!
