Spring 2013

The Mower
When watching Chad mow for the first time, I think towards the end he was mowing things that didn't need to be mowed for the simple fact that he didn't want to get off of it.  When asked if I could have a turn, he politely replied, "No, it's mine."  Maybe he needs a lesson in sharing?  Or maybe my past experiences with small engines have proven that I am incapable of using them and not breaking them.

Handy Healthy Breakfasts
I have been making refrigerator oatmeal for the last year for Chad and the kids.  I initially got the idea off of pinterest and have since added my own twist to the oatmeal based off of what the kids like.  For the core of the oatmeal, I use 1/2 cup of oats and sugar-free vanilla coffee creamer for the sweetener (1 T).  After that, I usually just add ingredients that my kids like in other foods, and the oats are used in substitute of the flour.  Our house favorites are snickerdoodle (with vanilla extract, cinnamon, and sugar), sugar cookie (with almond extract and colored sprinkles), banana bread (with vanilla extract, nutmeg, walnuts, and bananas), and strawberries and cream (strawberries, vanilla extract, and a dollop of whipped cream).  Others go on to include blueberry muffin, chocolate chip cookie, oatmeal raisin, chocolate strawberry hugs (all of these can be found on pinterest).  All of these are so easy, and they make for quick work of busy breakfast time.  Thought I would share.  :)

 Garden Friends
There were 3 bunnies so everyone had their "own" bunny.  Harper found the hole for us, so we made sure we put the bunnies back in their hole for bedtime.

I wonder where they get their silly faces from?

Nothin' like a 70-degree swim that turned into an outdoor bath (their idea).

Ella Posing

I went along for Brock's 2nd-grade field trip to Morrill Hall.  He was in awe of everything at the museum.  He especially like the planetarium show, weapons, and the gold (of course!).

Gold!

On a side note, I cannot believe that summer vacation for the kids starts next Friday.  Where does the time go?  We have a major project that we are going to tackle this summer and that is to turn one of our chicken coops into a playhouse.  The kids will get to design, paint, build, and decorate their playhouse.  Brock recently purchased a tool set, so he is eager to put it to use.

As far as my schooling goes, this week was my first week of my LAST class! Six more weeks and then I am ready for student teaching.  I received my student teaching placement for this fall and will begin that at the beginning of August.  After 12 weeks of student teaching, I will be ready to apply for my certification!  Yay!  I am very excited, and my cooperating teacher is amazing, so I am confident that it will be a wonderful experience!
