Sugar Bear

Sugar Bear Heusinkvelt
Born 2/25/15

Sophie's Kindergarten Program

We got it all on video, and rest assured, she sang beautifully!

Little Bunny Foo Foo

Our days are not complete without a little sibling jealousy.

Sophie's Death Grip
She means well but has a difficult time maneuvering animals in a careful and comfortable way.

That's better!

Lilacs!  Of course!  Lilacs are what every little bunny needs!

Let's put her in our fort!

We put Foo Foo back that evening, and in the morning, a flood of tears came when Sophie found the rabbit hole empty.  Even I was sad.  We just love our critters so much!  The next few days were spent searching for more rabbit holes, but we didn't have any luck.

Sophie *sigh*

I could tell that Sophie was exhausted as soon as we got home from school due to her consistent refusal to do her chores.  Let me rephrase that: her chore (singular).  This chore has been a part of her regular chore repertoire for the last three months.   I asked her to please do the "stair  duty," and after ten minutes of explaining to her that duty meant responsibility and not poop (doody), she was still not convinced to do her chore.  She would stand by the stairs, cry that there was too much stuff to take up, and then flop herself on the floor because she couldn't do it.  Ella so graciously offered to help her, and they did it together.

Those of you that know Sophie know that she is not the most organized person, and her keeping her room clean is a constant struggle.  It just so happened that tonight I got all of the laundry done and distributed to rooms and was feeling extra productive.  I went into ALL-OUT candy bribing mode offering candy to kids that put their clothes away (knowing that the odds are not in my favor for simply asking tonight due to extreme fatigue).  There would even be EXTRA candy given to those kids who clean up their rooms (insert my extremely motivating teacher voice)! ;)

Sophie was P.U.M.P.E.D.  She will work for chocolate.  Not money.  Not TV time.  Chocolate.  Just chocolate.

After about 30 minutes of not hearing a peep out of either of the girls (which is very unusual), I headed up the stairs with my phone camera in hand, knowing just what I was going to find.
It looks as though she tried to separate her clothes into piles, but that is as far as she got.  We will try again tomorrow.  :)

That's How You Keep a Bunny Warm

"You put a bunny inside of a glove and then inside two hats. That's how you keep a bunny warm."
-Sophie

Carnival

Being on student council, Brock had to work a shift at the carnival. He was selected to do the Spongebob Toss game. I worked the game with him, and we had such a blast! He was such a good sport about it the entire evening, even when classmates would throw sponges at him as hard as they could. He was definitely the one who made that game a success. <3

Bustin' Our...

BACKS!

A little picture painting before the work starts.

This was the weekend that the floor was coming out.  HOLY. MOLY.  Talk about a back-breaker!  We worked from 6-8 p.m. on Friday night and from 8-5 p.m. on Saturday.
We couldn't have done it without these hard working kids!

Timber!
Let's classify "TIMBER" as the process one uses to randomly distribute wood flooring on a neatly stacked wood pile.

Along with hard work comes a few setbacks.

Ella's turn to vacuum.

"Hi, Harpie."

Hmmm...

"Let's vacuum Harper!"

Oh, no.

"What?"

Taking a Break

Dad says, "You're not holding' your mouth right!"

So, Brock tries to hold his mouth differently.
