So Much to Write. Not Enough Motivation.

We finally got our garden planted (with the exception of the corn)! We actually got all of our veggies last weekend and just got around to getting them into the ground. This year we planted green beans, peas, romaine lettuce, spinach, zucchini, spaghetti squash, butternut squash, buttercup squash, tomatoes (roma and celebrity), bell peppers, jalapenos, sweet corn, and gourds (for fall decoration).

Brock had his first soccer game yesterday, and from what I saw, he did a good job. Sophie was screaming the entire time, so we spent the majority of the game in the truck. He had a lot of fun and is excited for another game next week.

During the 80 degree temps, the kids
had their first swim of the season.
Sophie played it safe at the water station.

Sophie got into the clean laundry basket and was
adamant about wearing Brock's undies. What about this, Mommy?
Sure! Why not!

It's funny when I rub it on my feet then eat it.
Oh, Sophie.

Sophie now says "cheese" when I take her picture.
And the best for last. The majority of you already know the story, but it doesn't do the story much justice without the proof.

The List
Ella wakes up and comes downstairs the other morning looking like this. At first, I was worried that a purple marker had attacked her in her sleep, so she saw the worry on my face and became worried herself. Here is how it went:
Mama: "Ella, what happened to you? There's purple marker all over you."
Ella: "I was just trying to make a list."
Mama: "You were trying to make a list? For what?"
Ella: "I was just trying to make a grocery list."
*sigh*
If you click on the pic, you can see that she had wrote her name all over her body. I was pretty impressed with the fact that her name on her right arm was very well written left-handed. There were even E's on the bottom of her feet. She also managed to not get the purple marker anywhere other than her body. I do believe that the list was created when she was supposed to be in bed the night before, hence the purple smudges all over her face. And what washable marker doesn't wash off? Apparently this lovely "washable" purple marker covering my child. Three days later and she is still a purple mess.

Here are some quick clips from the week:

New Recipe

New Recipe (the kids love it!):

Corn Dog Casserole

Ingredients:

1 Tbs butter or margarine
2 boxes (8.5 ounces each) corn muffin mix
2 large eggs
3/4 cup milk
6 to 8 hotdogs or turkey franks
1 Tbs sugar
4 slices American cheese, optional

Directions:
Preheat over to 400ºF. Place butter in a two-quart baking dish and microwave for 15 to 20 seconds until melted. Shake dish from side to side to coat bottom and sides with the melted butter. Place the muffin mix, eggs, and milk in a large mixing bowl, and mix until a well combined batter is created. Pour half of the batter into the greased 2-quart baking dish and then place whole hotdogs in rows over top, about three-quarters of an inch apart. To extend each row to about half an inch from the edge of the dish on either side, you will most likely need to cut two of the hotdogs into smaller pieces. Place four slices of American cheese evenly over the hotdogs, and cover with the remaining two-thirds of the batter. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until the top has browned well and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean of any batter. Let cool five minutes before slicing. Serve with ketchup or mustard, as you would eat an ordinary corn dog.

Easter 2010

This Easter was so special to us! The day before Easter, we had Sophie baptized. Her God parents, Heidi and Jay, were here from Kentucky, so it all worked out to get her baptized. She did so good, and we are so proud of her!

Everyone had a great Easter, and the kids raked in more candy than they did on Halloween!

Sophie tried so hard to push the button...
but eventually decided it was
easier just to shake the spinner.

Easter Bunny Story

Brock came home from preschool with an abnormally large stack of papers. I asked him what all the papers were, and he said that they were cards to the Easter Bunny. He said that the more cards you have, the more candy you get. I think he counted 11 cards total. I guess I've got some shopping to do.
