Thanksgiving Treats

What, you ask, are these magical sugar cookie creatures?

They are hand print turkey cookies.  We had to work with what we had.  The beaks were supposed to be candy corn, but my hour-long search for candy corn last night ended in failure.  Sprinkles seemed to be a good substitute in my head, but reality proved me wrong.  They are cute once you figure out what they are, and they are mighty tasty.

I can't help but laugh when I see this picture.  It is SO Ella.
She loves to put her snacks in little containers with lids.
She loves wearing bracelets.
She has her kitty that wears a bow and necklace.
She is carrying her purse.
All while eating her snack.  What a busy girl!

So You're Telling Me There's a Chance...

Chad and I went hunting yesterday afternoon and had quite a bit of luck.  When we first arrived to the corn field and were walking down to the blind, four does came running up the hill.  They got within 30 yards of us and didn't quite know what we were.  They stopped right on top of a hill, so I couldn't take a shot, but it had to be one of the coolest experiences being that close to them with nothing else around us.

We made it to the blind, and after sitting there for a while, we heard (what we thought to be) a deer run up to the side of the blind and stop right outside.  We didn't have all of the windows open, so we couldn't see what was out there.  It never did make its way around to where we could see, but it was definitely hooves that we heard.

When the sun was setting, four does came out of the tree line from the southwest running northeast (right in front of us!).  Chad had his binocs on them to see which one would be the best to take.  After that was decided, the rest was history.  Perfect shot from about 40 yards.  What a beautiful deer!

With our hunting permit this year, we were given a bonus tag, so there's still a chance that we could get Ol' Mossy.  We plan on trying again on Sunday.

Open Season: Deer-13 Molly-0

Saturday marked opening day of rifle season.  Chad and I hunted pretty hard over the weekend, and we seen quite a few deer on Saturday, but we had no such luck on Sunday.  I could have taken a shot at a couple of does on Saturday but wanted to see what they would bring over to us.  There were two pretty nice bucks, but they were chasing a doe so fast that I couldn't get them in my scope, and they wouldn't stop running!  All in all, it was sooooo much fun.  We are very gracious to Grandma and Grandpa for watching the kids over the weekend.  Thank you, thank you, thank you!!!!
Little Betsy Brown has yet to harvest a deer this year, but we still have a full week/weekend to hunt.  Wish us luck!

Happy Anniversary, Darling!

Wow!  Six years have flown by, and what an amazing six years it has been!  I have, undoubtedly, married the most wonderful man ever! *smitten*

For our six-year anniversary, Chad whisked me away to Council Bluffs for a whole day and evening by ourselves.  We stayed at Harrah's Casino, did a little bit of gambling, and had a romantic dinner at the 360 Steakhouse on the 12th floor of Harrah's.  I finally got to try a martini or two and risotto.  Everything was incredible!

Chad getting revenge for me always taking pictures...

One of the many times that I laughed so hard I cried!

While we were enjoying our dinner, Chad had arranged for a cake and champagne to be delivered to our room.

You spend all of that money on a dress that you not only wear on your wedding day, but you wear on every anniversary, too!  Happy Anniversary, Honey!  XOXOXO

Trick or Treat

After stopping by Grandma's and two of our neighbors' houses, the kids' bags were already full of candy! They were really into it this year and didn't tire very easily. They had so much fun!
